First XI defeated North Alphington
Report coming soon, stay tuned.
What I can tell you is that Speedy was spectacular with bat, ball and in the field, Grades didn’t take a wicket, Brentons dropped a soda but took a magnificent catch where he impersonated a sugar glider, Dools and Kavan continued good form with the bat and Nav M. also continued his great form with the ball.
SECOND XI lost to AYC Harlequins
After a massive win last week and moving into the top 4, there were smiles all round; but the job wasn’t done yet. We headed down to Jingella Reserve to take on top side AYC Harlequins, a test to see where we are at. Unfortunately we had a few unavailable this week which in the end we played with 9. The ninth being Junior’s mate who lived next door to the ground, Kev. We won the toss and elected to bat. We opened with the Lithgow’s who have both been batting well, until Pete got a good one and snicked it. Knotty came in at 3. He batted with Al for a bit before Al got a quick inswinging yorker that got through his defence. Enter Chinny who batted nicely, a small partnership with Knotty as they worked to rebuild the innings. Chinny was caught and one of last week’s hero’s, CK Prowse strode to the crease. Again a little partnership through to drinks but unfortunately Knotty spooned a simple catch to point. Whilst he was in the changerooms, CK followed him in, bowled also by an inswinging yorker. Col and Peakey (helping us out and really appreciated) were looking good before Col was bowled by a slow bouncer. New player Kev waltzed to the middle, smashed a 4 then waltzed back after being bowled. Junior Miles has been working on his batting and so found himself at 9 this week. He looked good and so did Peakey when Peakey then smashed one to mid off and caught, end of innings, all out 69.
