SECOND XI DEFEATED MONT ALBERT CC
Round 3 (second game) and with the Macgibbon Shield boys assisting as part of a reunion plus another Panthers debutant in Rav, we were able to field an extremely strong Second XI. We lost the toss and were sent in to bat on a damp deck and wet outfield. Brad and Tony opened the innings and were steady for the first 10 overs (the boys deserved some boundaries if not for the wet field!). Tony was out caught by the only fielder capable of a catch and in came Datto. Together with Brad they upped the run rate until Datto had to retire after a whirlwhind 50. New boy Rav continued where Datto left off and finished with a well compiled 49 not out. We set Mont Albert a competitive 183 to win off 35 overs.
We opened with Starkey and Joey and the boys put in a match winning spell of bowling to start the innings. Dot after Dot backed up by a great effort in the field. Nav came on second change and continued where the openers left off. Along with Datto, Tony and Brad keeping tight lines we were unlucky not to have a few more wickets as the boys consistently beat the outside edge.
In the end, we came away with a 20 run win which was a fantastic result for the club in making it 2/2 for the day.
Unfortunately for Ismail, he was caught on 99. It happened so quickly this is the only video.
